Read in an interview that the tuning (low to high) is A-A-A-A-G-C#. The bottom E is an octave lower than the standard A string, the G string is an A an octave higher. It's basically an open A7 chord, and yes this tuning throws your intonation out of wack unless you have the right strings. From one helmet fan to the next, hope this helps y'all.

Ive heard about Helmet using the Drop A tuning you specified. I remember talking to Wes Borland when I was a teenager & asking how he came up with the F# F# tuning he used on Nookie and a few others. He said to go listen to Biscuits For Smut & you'll hear the influence. WIsh I had a cell phone back in those young days of mine. Met him, Dimebag, Manson.

What's up with the AADGBE tuning though? I'm pretty sure that Helmet usually plays in drop D. I've never even heard of that tuning you put up. Other than that, good tab.
