of 12 years, he travelled to the capital city of
Poland, Warsaw, where he was accepted into the Warsaw
Conservatorium. He graduated in 1878 whereupon he was
offered work as a tutor of piano at his alma mater. His
later succeeded in a career of international
concertizing in which he dazzled audiences with his
piano prowess. He had an interest in politics
throughout his life, and served as prime minister and
foreign minister of Poland in 1919.
