Monti's celebrated Czardas adapts well to the double bass.
My chosen key (A minor/major) is a compromise between practicability of the fast passages and emotional power in the slower introduction.
The player of this type of music has considerable licence to amend the notes as s/he thinks fit, to improve the effect (and to make the piece convenient to play).
This arrangement (revised 2009) includes the "forced harmonics" passage, possible using natural harmonics on the double bass.
