This special edition recreates the most eloquent relic of Anna Magdalena Bach, the Kavierbuchlein begun in 1725. In our edition we have tried to reproduce its format and appearance so as to convey with the very first impression some idea of the original's charm. The binding is of sea-green parchment, on the front cover the initials A M B and the date 1725 are in gold.

Bach himself started the collection with two big partitas as a form of dedication and it was left to the owner to decide what else to include. The result is a patchwork of pieces by various composers, many copied in Anna Magdalena's impressive handwriting, including works by Bach's sons.
