Jef Penders, often called 'The Spanish Limburger', lives since many years in the province of Valencia where he is strongly involved in the local musical life. He wrote this fine seguidilla Per al meu Amic. To my Friend. for his good friend Jeses Alcantara. The seguidilla is a typical Spanish folkdance in a quick three-four time which was already popular back in the sixteenth century. It is in fact the melodic continuation of the bolero. Penders proves clearly that he understood and adopted the Spanish musical spirit.
